Andrew & Susan have formed their roots in the North woods of Wisconsin & have decided to raise their family here. They founded the Chequamegon Adventure Company in 1997 & have expanded their path of adventure, travel & sport.

Susan started her traveling experience with a 6 month trip to New Zealand that turned into a two year trip around the world. From Buddhist temples in India to the Inca trail in Peru, Sue has been adding to her list of incredible experiences. Susan is certified Physicians Assistant with the Marshfield Clinic.

Andrew began his love for the outdoors with his parents in his early years, skiing, canoeing, hiking, & camping. Andrew is a certified costal kayak instructor through the American Canoe Association. He is also a 4 star paddler & a Coach 2 instructor through the British Canoe Union.

Andrew and Susan have two daughters Celesté (7) and Alysse (4).

 

 

 Jeff Lauder- Adventure Bicycles Manager
Jeff Lauder

  Jeff has been employed at some of the finest bike shops around the country. A native of Wisconsin, he and his wife Tammy moved to Woodruff & found a wonderful home. Jeff is the Adventure Bicycles Manager & one of the best mechanics in the mid west. Biking is only one of his passions. Nordic Skiing, Snowshoeing, Paddling, old snowmobiles, & good beer, Not necessarily in that order. 


Rae Lundberg- Adventure Canoe & Kayak/Tripping Manager

Rae began leading trips for Chequamegon in the summer of '06.  She brings an extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.  Rae is certified through the American Canoe Association and Wilderness Medical Training Center as an ACA instructor and Wilderness First Responder.  She is very active in teaching kayaking through the University of Wisconsin, Superior, where she is currently finishing her degree in Elementary Education.  An avid rock and ice climber, Rae is equally at home on the water, frozen water falls or vertical rock.  Rae is recognizable on the water paddling the cedar strip kayak she and her father built. 


Joel Peterson

Joel has been a guide with Chequamegon Adventure Company since the company’s beginning. A skilled kayaker and outdoorsman, Joel has been all over Lake Superior. His trip to the north shore by Rossport gave Joel a chance to navigate by compass alone as the fog had limited their sight for 4 days. Joel graduated from UW-Superior with a degree in exercise science & now works for the university within their Outdoor Education Program. He is certified as a wilderness first responder and an ACA coastal kayak instructor.

Tom Oestreich

AKA “Musky T” Tom has been guiding for Chequamegon Adventure Company for 6 years. When not guiding, Tom spends his time pursuing the king of fresh water, the elusive musky.  He is also an avid  telemark skier during the winter months. Tom graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in education. Tom is BCU 3 star certified and has his Wilderness First Aid.

Ben Hinueber

Ben's passion is slidding on snow. He winters near Bridger Bowl in Montana. He Logged 70+ Days on the slopes this year(don't tell mom). Inspite of this accomplishment he graduated with a B.S. in Biology. Whats next? A summer guiding on Lake Superior, then...........to be continued

Luke Taylor

 Luke Taylor

This is Luke's second summer with CACo. He has finished his degree in Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University.  He has enjoyed many camping and adventure trips, while backpacking, boating, caving, and rock climbing, and has spent time in the Boundary Waters.  He is an Eagle Scout and is certified as a Wilderness First Responder.  Luke was a Park Ranger for a summer and on the McDonough County Sheriff’s Dive Rescue Team for three years.  Luke looks forward to seeing you on the water this summer!

 

Ben Lonsdorf

Ben has lived here in Northern Wisconsin all his life. Slalom skiing, barefooting and swimming are some activities he enjoys during the summer aside from tripping. Ben has been to all the prime canoeing areas in Canada, including the BWCA, the Quetico and Northerm Saskatchewan, in which he spent over a month exploring the Canadian Shield and taking part in exceptional whitewater. Ben is currently a junior at Rhinelander High School and is certified in Wilderness First Aid.

 

Jennifer Steingraeber

Jennifer has been spending her summers in the Northern Wisconsin area for as long as she can remember.  A junior in college, studying art education, the season is short and sweet and she hopes to sneak in as much fun as she can.  Jen loves camping and doing anything outdoors, especially with her family.  She is becoming more familiar with activities like paddling, rock climbing, and backpacking.

 

Julie Dopp-Fried

Julie joins CACo after recently relocating to the Minocqua area. Formerly an elementary teacher of 17 years, she plans to take time to pursue her passion for the outdoors and spend time with her husband, two sons and three golden retrievers.  Julie has had training and/or is certified in kayaking, whitewater canoeing, challenge course management, ecology and wilderness skills, archery, flyfishing and hunters safety.  Working at CACo will be a great opportunity to learn the technical side of boat construction while meeting tons of people with similar interests.

 

Amie Vos

This is Amie’s second season at CACo. Amie was born in raised in Minocqua. She has been camping throughout Northern Michigan and Northern Minnesota and surrounding areas ever since she can remember. She has been to the Porcupine Mountains on a couple of backpacking trips with her family. Amie has also taken annual canoe trips to the BWCA with her family and friends for 10 years. She recently graduated from Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Religious Studies. Next year she will be attending St. Mary’s University in Rochester, MN to gain a M.A. in Counseling.
